Secret Garden

This crochet project was a true delight.  The yarn is 100% cashmere purchased from the gorgeous selection at Chopped Tomatoes Design Kitchen.  The yarn is named Elusive and a beautiful mixture of grey, green and mauve tones.

I started this project the day the yarn arrived as I just couldn’t resist the deliciously soft and wonderfully fragrant yarn. The pattern is a slow grower with the yarn being so fine and gorgeous but the pattern emerges within the first few rows and is so simple that it’s a very relaxing and meditative process watching the little crocus-shaped repeats bloom.

This shawl turned out beautifully and as you can see from the picture below, looks amazing once it’s blocked.  It’s light as a feather and wonderfully warm. It’s also really quite long, giving me lots of options when it comes to wearing it.

Mist Shawl

This is was my first foray into lace knitting.  It’s a pattern called Arwen Wrap from Tabitha’s Heart Design.  Knitted on KnitPro circular needles with Rowan Pure Wool DK in the Shale colourway it’s toasty warm and goes with everything.

There were teething problems and many froggings but once I got on a roll this was a pleasure to knit.

The knitting of this shawl took about a month on and off, the lace repeats of the main body are easy to remember and it grows wonderfully quickly as it’s knitted on 6mm needles.

I had to learn how to graft in order to finish this knit and I’m sure that the next time I have to do it I’ll have to look it up again!  On the whole the project was a sucess and I’m very pleased with the way it looks now that it’s blocked.

So, this is my very own stitchcraft blog.  I’ll be updating it with projects and pictures soon.  I am in no way as prolific a stitcher as Heathwitch but I’m getting there 🙂
